ATLANTA, GA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced weekly honors for men’s and women’s basketball on Tuesday, January 23. In this celebration of on-court successes, Spring Hill’s Isaiah Veal was named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Albany State’s Blaise Wallace took home the title of Men’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week. Clark Atlanta’s Corriana Evans was named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and Atreonia Garner brought home additional honors for the Lady Panthers as Women’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Isaiah Veal, Spring Hill College

Veal delivered a series of stellar performances in recent clashes, significantly contributing to his team’s streak of four consecutive wins. Rivaling Kentucky State, the San Francisco native shone brightly, achieving a personal best with a staggering 37 points, showcasing his sharpshooting skills by sinking 10 of 21 field goals and 2 of 3 attempts from beyond the arc. His prowess at the free-throw line was equally impressive, setting another personal record with 15 successful free throws. Veal’s defensive efforts were noteworthy, registering a career-high two steals and playing a pivotal role in the Badgers’ nail-biting 85-83 victory.
Facing Lane College, the redshirt senior exhibited a balanced game, scoring 17 points and dishing out four assists, instrumental in Spring Hill’s commanding 86-68 triumph over the Dragons.
MEN’S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Blaise Wallace, Albany State University

In a standout performance for Albany State University, freshman forward Blaise Wallace turned up the heat as the Golden Rams hosted Savannah State University. The Tallahassee native showcased determination and on-court prowess for 29 minutes during the contest. Achieving a rare feat by connecting on every shot from the field, Wallace contributed across the board with four rebounds, an assist, a block, and three steals, demonstrating his versatility as both an offensive threat and a defensive asset. Wallace’s all-around performance underlines his potential as a rising star in college basketball and cements his role as a key player for Albany State.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Corriana Evans, Clark Atlanta University

Corriana Evans, the dynamic guard for Clark Atlanta, delivered a stunning performance, amassing 55 points across two pivotal victories. Evans showcased her all-around skills in a commanding 73-60 triumph over Allen University on January 15, amassing 22 points complemented by five rebounds.
Rivaling Edward Waters, the Peach State prodigy achieved a season-best 33 points and an impressive 16 rebounds, powering her team to a decisive 91-73 victory on Saturday. Evans’ shooting precision was on full display, with a remarkable 58% field goal success rate and a solid 42% from the free-throw line, a testament to her efficiency and impact in high-pressure situations.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Atreonia Garner, Clark Atlanta University

Atreonia Garner, a dynamic powerhouse for Clark Atlanta, delivered a stunning performance in recent contests, accumulating a remarkable 46 points and propelling her team to crucial victories.
Kicking off the week, Garner showcased her formidable skills with a 19-point, nine-rebound display in a decisive 73-60 triumph over Allen University on Monday. The Spanaway, Washington native continued her impressive form into the weekend, amassing 27 points and eight rebounds in a hard-fought victory against Edward Waters on Saturday.
